Camera could save water system and residents big bucks

Out of sight, out of mind is a true statement for residents when it comes to the water and sewer lines, but not so much for those who look after our local water and sewer needs.

The Holley Navarre Water System last week approved $142,000 for a camera that is purported to save the water system hundreds of thousands of dollars in man hours and capacity at the sewer treatment plants.

The camera, an Ibak RapidView, will be inserted into the pipes and has the ability to turn in 45- and 90-degree angles in sewer lines looking for breaks, root infiltration, compromised joints and other issues, taking the guess work out of problems with local sewer lines.
