Kamber Anderson won’t get a chance to play softball this season for Pensacola State College. A back injury has sidelined the former Navarre standout for the year.
But Anderson, a freshman, is still in a position to make a difference as a student-athlete. She and her Pirate teammates have spent the fall doing community service work.
The latest opportunity presented itself Friday morning as Anderson and her teammates spent time reading to kindergarten, first- and second-grade students at Holley-Navarre Primary School.
It was Anderson’s idea to do something in her hometown.
“I made this one happen and it was a lot of fun. I loved having the chance to be home,” Anderson said. “We’re hoping to come back and do something at the intermediate school at some point.”
