Susan Teal of the Gulf Islands National Seashore confirms that a car and a body were recovered from the Gulf Islands National Seashore some time on Friday evening, August 12. Teal says the Seashore is conducting an investigation in conjunction with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
It is believed the body is that of missing Anna Maria Island resident, Mike Denham. In an interview with his sister Laurie on Thursday, she indicated that Denham was last seen leaving the Navarre Walmart at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Laurie, Denham had been at Sandestin for a business meeting with a client, and when the meeting concluded, he called family to let them know he was driving his rental car to Tallahassee where he would stay the night before driving the rest of the way home the following day.
