Burglary suspect arrested on Navarre Beach

According to a press release from the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s office, the office received a call at 6 a.m. on Monday, September 14 in reference to a suspicious individual on Gulf Blvd in Navarre Beach. The caller stated there was a male which appeared to be in the process of breaking into a car. A subsequent report stated that the caller witnessed the suspect break into a van with Texas license plates and flee on a white bicycle. Deputies located the suspect.  After a foot chase, the suspect was found actively attempting to break into a condo.  He was apprehended after he was tased by the deputy. The suspect attempted to use a fictitious name and had also changed his appearance since the deputies had encountered him previously.

The suspect was identified as Jeremy Laroy Woolard, 28. Woolard currently has 7 warrants out of Santa Rosa County for burglary and theft charges. Those warrants are mostly for vehicle burglaries as well as breaking into the New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Milton.  Property was recovered at the scene and Woolard was arrested and taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail.  At the jail, Woolard was read his Miranda rights and proceeded to confess to a drug problem and stated he was breaking into cars to “steal what he could to pay for drugs,” according to the report. Woolard also took a deputy to four different residences where he had broken into cars.
