Nearly three years later, the young adult membership at the Navarre YMCA is a success.
Available to those ages 13-24, the growth has been impressive. Only two took advantage of it when it started in December of 2012. The total is now up to 100, which is actually five more than the number of people with a senior membership.
“The idea behind it was that families had memberships but only the young adults in the household were using it a lot of the time,” said Yolanda Griffin, the membership director at the Navarre YMCA. “The younger members were using it for sports training in the offseason.”
Families would often cancel memberships because not everyone was using them, creating a need for a different type of membership.
