Although the clear-bottom kayak tours of the artificial reef are booked for Saturday, that doesn’t mean people can’t come out and take advantage of an opportunity to learn more about sea turtles.
The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center is hosting its Turtle Treks program the same day, providing visitors an opportunity to check out various displays, interactive exhibits and aquariums that feature the life of sea turtles and other inhabitants of the Gulf of Mexico.
Light refreshments, crafts for children and a drawing for a free gift are also on tap for the day.
Normally, a 30-minute educational presentation is included with the Turtle Treks program but because the kayak tours are part of the weekend, center director Cathy Holmes said a different approach is being taken.
