The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center (NBSTCC) closed its doors Saturday in preparation for construction of a new pool and observation deck and improvements to the interpretative portion of the center. Volunteers completed inventory and locked the doors shortly after 2 p.m.
“We expect construction will begin within the next two weeks on the new turtle pool,” said Cathy Holmes of the NBSTCC. “Installation should only take a couple of weeks, but rain could slow the project down.”
The 16 feet by 24 feet turtle pool will be constructed in a sandy area on the northside of the center. Once the pool is installed, an observation deck will be built that will include theater seating for 30.
