Teddy, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, was on the run in Navarre for four months before being reunited with his human mom and dad, John and Nancy Robertson of Cape Cod, Mass.
Nancy Robertson recalled the day of his disappearance with grief as fresh as if it had just happened. They were here on vacation. Nancy said “We were going out to dinner that night with friends, so we hired a pet sitter from DogVacay. Skye Martinez was our sitter. We got a call from Skye that Teddy had slipped away and was running down East Bay Boulevard.” Nancy described Teddy as very timid and she knew he was probably looking for his mom and dad.
The Robertson’s spent what was left of their vacation searching, and they were not alone. Martinez’s company hired additional people to join the search, and information was immediately dispersed on Facebook. When Kaitlyn Williams, who lived close by read the information on social media, she sprang into action. “We spent seven hours that day searching, and the next day and the next,” Williams said.
