Technology makes a world of difference, even on the water.
NOAA is capitalizing on the technology when it comes to managing fisheries, including along the heavily fished Gulf Coast.
“We’re moving to a more automated way of doing things, and that reduces the number of people who need to go out for research,” said Roy Crabtree, regional administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). “We are looking at ways to gain efficiency, and technology is where you are going to get that.”
