Set to take place October 3-4, the Navarre Fishing Rodeo is in its third year and has already become one of the most popular rodeos among anglers on the Emerald Coast. It has even been added to the calendar of Santa Rosa County’s 12th Annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour. The tournament plans to highlight the abundance of fish swimming through area waters and the different methods for catching them.
The Navarre Beach Chamber Foundation has spearheaded the event each year and has put a great deal of time and effort into bringing the event to Navarre Beach, securing $10,000 from the Santa Rosa Tourism Development Council to help promote the event and secure prizes.
Along with last year’s Open Division and Junior Division, the rodeo has added five new categories for anglers to compete in. Kayak anglers can compete in their own division for Spanish mackerel, King mackerel, snapper, flounder, redfish and trout. The offshore division entrants will compete for the largest Spanish mackerel, King mackerel or snapper. Inshore participants will vie for the winning flounder, redfish or trout.
