Visitors help save two from Opal Beach rip currents

Lisa Johnson and her fiancé, Larry Terrell, were enjoying a Saturday afternoon on beautiful Opal Beach. The warm sun and white sand was just what the couple from Princeton, Illinois needed. They were here visiting Johnson’s military son stationed nearby.

They noticed a couple out in the water. “We noticed them before, and it was like ‘what is that guy doing’?” said Johnson. “They were out pretty far, and we had talked about that.”

Not long after, a relaxing beach afternoon turned into a traumatic incident.
