It was a busier season than usual for the lifeguards on Navarre Beach but overall, the season, which ends Nov. 1, went well, according to utilities supervisor Terry Wallace.
“I thought everything went really well,” Wallace said. “Everyone on the staff did a great job.”
A total of 12 lifeguards were on the staff this year to help keep swimmers safe on the beach. Only two of the lifeguards were new this year and Wallace said the experience made a difference.
“They all worked very well together,” Wallace said. We had quite a few who have been lifeguards for four or five years and a few others who have worked here two or three. We had an experienced group.”
