Okaloosa County high-speed chase ends in arrest

Ganey-Waylon-DwightA carjacking suspect from Baker led authorities on a 25-mile chase last night with speeds approaching 100 mph that started in Crestview and ended with the suspect crashing the vehicle into a bar on Lewis Turner Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office reports 21-year-old Waylon Casey of Baker was able to elude law enforcement officers after the crash; however, he later entered Fort Walton Beach Medical Center wearing only shorts and was freezing from exposure.

He was arrested and charged with vehicle theft/carjacking with a firearm. The arrest report indicates Casey used a black BB pistol with a realistic design to persuade the vehicle’s owner to exit the car.
