Practice has just started on the NYSA football field for the boys and girls lacrosse teams at Navarre.
This is the first official high school season for both squads. Though it’s been a crazy process in some ways because of how quickly the programs have come to life, boys head coach Tim Grier will tell you it’s great to have preparation for the season underway.
“We’re glad the school has given us this opportunity. There’s a lot of interest in it and it’s an opportunity for students to try out another sport.”
Lacrosse is a growing sport. In fact, it’s one of the fastest growing in the nation, with more than 100,000 students across the country playing it at the high school level.
Jack Louer is one of them.
He has spent the past three years playing at other county schools that already have the sport and is glad his own high school finally has a program in place.
