Juveniles injured in drug deal gone bad

Several juveniles, ranging in age from 12 -17, were injured when their plan to steal drugs from drug dealers went wrong, and they ended up being taken to the hospital.

According to a press release by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office, the youths planned the drug robbery over the popular social media app, Snapchat. The incident occurred Saturday, at the intersection of Babb Lane and Calvary Lane. A witness told deputies he and his two friends were meeting up to ride around the neighborhood. While they were playing around, two subjects, Christian Ennis Avery, age 21 from Pensacola, and Tyler James Harris, age 24 from Pensacola, pulled up in a red Dodge Charger. The witness stated he heard someone scream “gun” and everyone started running. As he was running, he could hear his friends screaming and saying, “let me go.”

While in the ambulance, one of the victims told the deputy they were meeting Avery and Harris to buy weed and liquid THC. The deal ended up going badly and the men got angry and started demanding money. Everyone in the group ran, but the two men caught them in the woods. One of the men pinned the victim on the ground and punched him in the face multiple times and drug him to the car and forced him inside. One of the men put a knife to his neck and threatened to kill him if he said anything. The other subject choked the other victim to keep him from screaming when a friend was walking by the car. Deputies arrive shortly after that and the two victims were taken to a hospital.

The deputy observed injuries to the left side of the victim’s face including bruising, swelling to his eye and cheek, missing teeth and blood coming from his nose.

Avery and Harris face serious charges as a result of the incident. They include felony assault, kidnapping of a minor – false imprisonment, aggravated child abuse, cruelty toward child and narcotics charges.
