Fresh off its first winning regular season since 2012, Navarre’s volleyball team now shifts its attention to the District 2-6A tournament.
The Raiders battle Crestview at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Crestview. The winner moves on to play at Niceville for the district crown Thursday night.
Navarre enters the tourney at 8-6 and with a lot of momentum after wrapping up the regular season Saturday with a thrilling five-set win over Fort Walton Beach at home.
That win was their third consecutive and sixth in their last eight outings overall.
Navarre and Crestview met once in the regular season, with the Raiders losing in three sets.
Raider head coach Ryan Davenport is confident the outcome can be different this time against a Bulldogs team that has had Navarre’s number over the years.
The last reported win over Crestview, according to MaxPreps, was in 2007.
“It’s going to come down to playing good volleyball,” Davenport said. “We know it’s going to be a battle, but these girls really believe they can win. And that’s all that matters.”
Navarre planned to hold a practice Monday in preparation for Tuesday’s win-or-go-home matchup.
“We want to come out Tuesday really strong and hopefully get the job done,” senior Lauren Miller said.
