A 37-year-old homeless man has been accused of repeatedly forcing himself sexually on a child under the age of 12.
At the time of the alleged abuse, Jeremiah Ivanoff had been staying with someone in Navarre, according to his Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office arrest report. Ivanoff is originally from Panama City and is unemployed, the report said.
He has been charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and one count of sexual battery on a victim under the age of 12. The incidents happened in August 2019.
Authorities learned of the alleged abuse when they were called to a Pensacola hospital, where the victim was taken the day after the incident.
The victim said Ivanoff sexually violated her repeatedly in a single night.
While talking to investigators, Ivanoff repeatedly changed his story, but said he was the victim and felt frightened. He said he fled the residence immediately after because he was scared.
He never returned to the home where he’d been staying and where the incidents occurred.
The arrest was delayed pending DNA tests from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. SRSO received those results Sept. 2, 2020.
Ivanoff was taken into custody Oct. 8.
