“Part of the game is predicting the weather,” said Dr. Robert Randel of his vast urban garden located near Oriole Beach.
This year, as you might guess, the above-average heat meant pepper plants galore. Randel had many different varieties covering the multiple beds he has crafted all around his property.
It’s also delayed his planting schedule as we all eagerly await the cooler weather in the second half of October. Randel, also a chiropractor in Gulf Breeze, has been learning, studying, creating and cultivating gardens of many varieties for 42 years. He advocates growing your own food as the best way to get nutrients from produce.
