As a student at the University of West Florida, Kimberly Murphy was excited about her future. Active on campus, she served as president of the Student Government Association and volunteered with the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge and AmeriCorps.
Murphy, a Navarre resident, performed well in school, had her own place and was in a good relationship.
Everything changed April 1, 2010.
“I was sexually assaulted by a friend of a friend,” she said. “I didn’t know him before that night, and I never saw him again after that night.”
