Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, AD alone composes “an estimated 60 to 80 percent of [dementia] cases.” Furthermore, according to research done by scientists from the Rush Institute for Healthy Aging, located in Chicago, Ill., nearly five million Americans were living with this destructive disease in 2013.
