Each spring area roadways fill with tourists who have headed south to enjoy warmer temperatures and beautiful beaches. The tourists this year have been joined by orange barrels, signs and construction crews stretching from the Pensacola Bay Bridge to Hurlburt Field.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, construction projects totaling just less than $40 million are underway along Highway 98 from the Pensacola Bay Bridge through Santa Rosa County to Hurlburt Field. The total cost also includes Highway 87 construction just completed at Laredo Street.
