Becky Lee Steinlicht was arrested Aug. 18 on charges of DUI; fleeing/eluding police; marijuana possession, not more than 20 grams; and narcotic equipment possession.
According to the report, Gulf Breeze police officers were alerted to a possible drunk driver on U.S. 98. An officer located the vehicle, a white Pontiac Grand Am, on the 100 block of U.S. 98 westbound, and made a traffic stop. Three police cars were on scene with their lights activated, when Steinlicht began driving forward and away from the officers.
According to police, the officer maneuvered his vehicle in front of the Grand Am in an attempt to stop it, but the Grand Am continued driving and struck the rear passenger side quarter panel of the patrol car, forcing it to the side of the road.
The Grand Am began to back up at an angle in an attempt to drive around the officer’s vehicle, but another officer maneuvered his marked patrol car in front of the Grand Am to try to block it, the report stated. The officer initiated a felony traffic stop on the vehicle and detained Steinlicht.
The officers detected a strong odor associated with an alcoholic beverage coming from Steinlicht’s breath and her person, according to the report. She failed field sobriety tests and police said her breath samples were .157 and .146. Her car was impounded.
She was released on $12,000 bond.
