Some Holley-Navarre Water System (HNWS) customers have noticed the water coming out of their faucets this week smells and tastes different from normal. HNWS General Manager Ken Walker said the water is different but it is safe to drink and meets all drinking water standards.
“We had a break April 19 in a line that transports water from the Fairpoint wells south of Interstate-10,” Walker said. “Since we can’t get that water right now, we are using only water from wells in our franchise area and that water is rich in hydrogen sulfite.” Walker noted that the water local customers typically enjoy is a blend of the two sources.
Walker said he expects the line repair will take about two weeks.
