Santa Rosa County deputies responded to a shooting Sunday afternoon on Quail Roost Drive off of Panhandle drive in Navarre. According to a report released by Public Information Officer, Rich Aloy of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s office, William Chris McClanahan-Spenler, 21, assaulted a victim with a sword. The male victim shot Spenler with a shotgun which wounded him. Spenler was taken to an area hospital and released at 4 p.m. and arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon.
Spenler is being held at the Santa Rosa County Jail with no bond. The report lists Spenler as residing on Quail Roost Drive. Spenler was previously arrested on March 16, 2016 in Santa Rosa County for trespassing and posted a $500 bond. At the age of 17 in April of 2013, Spenler was arrested for burglary of unoccupied structure unarmed; petit theft first degree less than $300.
