Recovery operations continue in the Santa Rosa Sound, according to a press release from Team Eglin Public Affairs Office.
Responders and divers continue to focus on collecting human remains and debris from the helicopter along the shoreline and in the debris fields around the accident site. Once these actions are completed, recovery operations will transition to the Safety Investigation Board, which is already on site. That effort is being headed by the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center out of Fort Rucker, Ala.
The Intercoastal Waterway is still closed to the general public and will reopen upon completion of recovery operations.
One transfer of remains to Dover Air Force Base occurred last week. Any human remains recovered since the end of last week will be transferred to Dover in the coming days.
