Every four hours members the Navarre Beach Fire Department patrolled the beach from the military property westward to Opal Beach in hope of recovering the body of swimmer Christopher Beal who went missing on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Danny Fureigh of NBFD says that it was the roughest and highest surf Navarre Beach has had in a while when Beal was lost.

Search efforts for the swimmer who went missing along Navarre Beach have been suspended due to unsafe weather conditions. The US Coast Guard along with Santa Rosa County emergency services made the decision at 11 a.m. today to halt search efforts. Inclement weather conditions are expected to persist over the next couple of days.
