Hayden Richard stepped up his game Monday night and propelled Navarre into the semifinal round of the District 1-4A boys soccer tournament.
The Raiders blanked Pace 3-0 in the opening round and advanced to a showdown with Washington Wednesday night at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
It will be the third time this season the two teams have met. Both meetings ended in ties (1-1 and 2-2).
As for Monday night, Richard punched in the only goal the Raiders would need in the fifth minute. Jack Patching assisted on the play.
Navarre added its final two goals in the first three minutes of the second half.
Richard scored in the 42nd minute off an assist from Mason Fralick and Isaac Long capped the scoring three minutes later off an assist from Brendan Bartlett.
Korey Betts earned the shutout win in goal.
With a win Wednesday, Navarre would advance to the district final scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday in Navarre against either Niceville or Tate.
