A Navarre woman is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after admitting to throwing kittens out of her moving vehicle.
At about 11:45 Friday morning, deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Highway 87 and Grady Tolbert Road where witnesses reported seeing the driver of a black Infinity SUV throwing small kittens out of the car window.
Police believe four kittens were discarded along Highway 87.
Deputies located the vehicle and identified the driver as Veronica Famoso Gordon of the 7100 block of Blueberry Lane in Navarre, which is near Highway 87. Gordon admitted to throwing kittens out of the window.
Gordon was arrested on a charge of felony animal cruelty and is being held on $5,000 bond.
Deputies were able to locate one of the four kittens. The kitten was in very poor condition and was immediately taken to a local vet for treatment. The condition of the kitten is now known at this time. The kitten is approximately seven weeks old. Deputies remained in the area to locate the other kittens but have not been able to locate them.
