The explosion at Colonial Pines Mobile Estates that killed one man was a case of arson, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office. Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity.
According to Holley-Navarre Fire Chief Ron Norton, the department received multiple calls of an explosion and a fire at around 12:20 a.m. Tuesday. He said one mobile home caught fire, which spread to an adjacent mobile home.
When fire fighters arrived on scene, the first single-wide mobile home was “fully-involved.” Norton said both homes are a total loss. No other injuries were reported.
Norton said fire fighters were on scene for about two and half hours before they released the first crew.
The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire and working to identify the deceased individual.
Navarre Beach, Midway and Florosa fire departments assisted Holley-Navarre Fire District at the scene. Avalon and East Milton each provided an engine for district coverage.
We’ll have more details as they become available.
