Holley-Navarre Fire District is behind the times when it comes to a fire map system and reporting capabilities for its firefighters.
In an Aug. 24 meeting, Chief Ron Norton told fire board members he expects to upgrade the technology available to firefighters and have it online by Oct.1.
“Right now our map technology is two binders on each truck with the fire maps,” Norton explained.
When a truck is dispatched on a call, firefighters must refer to the binders to find a street location they are not familiar with. But the district is set to eliminate that with the addition of five Samsung tablets and cloud-based mapping and reporting programs.
