Longtime Santa Rosa County Administrator Hunter Walker plans to retire at the end of 2015, and commissioners are beginning to plan the search to replace him.
“This is one of the most important decisions we’ll make as a board,” District 4 County Commissioner Rob Williamson said of replacing Walker, who in October will have completed 20 years in the position — which has a current annual salary of $132,412.
Walker added a discussion about his impending retirement to Monday’s commission committee agenda, pointing out he entered the state’s deferred retirement option program in 2012. “I could potentially stay until 2017,” Walker said, but he expressed his intention to leave December 31.
