Navarre has a new millionaire!
Resident Cecilia Austin won $1.54 million from the Florida Lottery Tuesday on a scratch off ticket.
Austin purchased the winning $2,000,000 Monopoly Florida Edition Scratch-Off Game ticket from the Tom Thumb at 9810 Navarre Parkway for $10. She won the max prize of $2 million, and opted for the lump sum pay out that brought her winnings down to $1.54 million.
The gas station where she purchased the ticket will receive a $4,000 bonus commission. The scratch-off game was launched July 5. The game odds of winning are about one in four, but they are much lower for the $2 million prize which will only be awarded to eight people.
According to the Florida Lottery, Scratch-Off games comprise approximately 65 percent of ticket sales and generated more than $734 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2015-16.
