A Navarre man out on bail for an alleged sexual battery charge is back in jail following a report that he assaulted another victim.
Joshua Shaun Stewart, 26, 2400 block of Andorra Street, was arrested Feb. 12 on a first-degree felony charge of sexual assault.
According to the report, the victim and Stewart were at a party on Feb. 11 and Stewart offered to give the victim a ride home. Police said both the victim and Stewart were drinking at the party.
Stewart asked the victim to “hang out and talk,” and the victim agreed. Police said he pulled into a cul-de-sac and asked the victim to go with him in the backseat. He asked the victim to cuddle, according to the report, but the victim said no.
According to the report, the victim wanted to go home and opened the car door. Stewart grabbed the victim and tried to force the victim to perform oral sex on him. The victim tried to get away but Stewart reached around the victim’s neck. The victim was able to get away from him and exited the vehicle.
Police said Stewart got out of the car, pushed the victim back into the car, pulled down the victim’s pants and said “it would be over soon.” According to the report, Stewart forced the victim to have sexual intercourse even though the victim said “no” several times.
He was arrested on a charge of sexual battery and is being held in Santa Rosa County Jail pending first appearance.
Stewart was arrested on a charge of sexual assault on a victim 12 years old or older with special conditions on Nov. 14, 2014. That case is pending.
