Free Annual Passes Available next 4 days
Gulf Islands National Seashore celebrates the holidays by distributing free annual passes for active duty U.S. military members at Fort Barrancas. These grant free access to national parks and other federal recreational lands. Active military personnel or their dependents can pick up their free passes over the next four days (December 19-22), from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Barrancas Visitor Center. They must be picked up in person and a Common Access Card or Military ID (form 1173) is required.
America the Beautiful Passes – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass is a convenient way to visit more than 2,000 sites of incomparable wonder, from Grand Canyon National Park to Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. If visiting several areas, the pass can save you money. There is no limit on the number of sites you can see, and each pass covers entrance fee or standard amenity fees for a driver and passengers in a personal vehicle at a per-vehicle fee area, such as Gulf Islands National Seashore.
There are a variety of options under the America the Beautiful Pass Program including: annual passes (available to everyone) and free passes for active duty U.S. military members, discounted lifetime passes for seniors (62 or older and U.S. citizen), and free lifetime passes for those with permanent disabilities (U.S. citizen).
