A man drowned Friday afternoon, Aug. 5, on Navarre Beach at beach access 7.
Navarre Beach Fire Department responded to the call at 2:06 p.m. According to the department, civilians pulled the elderly man from the water before the department arrived and had begun administering CPR. The man was a visitor to Navarre.
A Life Guard helicopter was dispatched, but did not land.
A red flag was posted advising swimmers of dangerous rip currents.
Fire department officials are encouraging beach goers to stay out of the water during red flag conditions that are expected to continue throughout the weekend.
This the second drowning reported on the beach this season.
