Jim Coakley was home when a fire broke out in his Lola Circle home Monday afternoon.
“When it struck, it blew stuff all over the place,” Coakley said. “It just exploded when it hit. I knew exactly what it was when it happened.”
Coakley made his emergency call at 2:25 p.m. and the fire department responded shortly thereafter to put out the fire, which Holley-Navarre Fire Chief Ron Norton said was contained to the attic of the home.
Norton said the fire was put out quickly.
“It was all contained to the attic and we are just mopping up some hot spots now,” Norton said. “We don’t have a damage estimate yet but it’s good the owner was home or it could have gone up in flames.”
Coakley is thankful he was home as well.
“I’m glad I was. I was able to catch it before it got much worse,” Coakley said.
