A new housing grant will provide some of Santa Rosa’s more than 800 homeless students with a roof over their head.
Santa Rosa School District Director of Federal Programs Karen Barber said the housing voucher pilot program would allow parents of identified students to receive a voucher that could be presented to qualified rental locations for housing.
The project is a partnership between the school district, EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless and Milton Housing authority.
The program is expected to help 25 to 30 families over the next three to five years. The maximum allotment would be $1.5 million, but the grant amount has yet to be determined Barber said.
