At the Oct. 5 Holley-Navarre Fire District Board Meeting, fire commissioner William Painter resigned his position effective immediately. He read a statement to the board members that in part said, “After much consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to resign my position with the Holley-Navarre Fire District effective immediately”. The commissioners, though seemingly surprised by the move, thanked Painter for his time on the board and his contributions to the fire district. Without any further explanation, Painter excused himself from the meeting.
“We will announce his resignation and notify the public that the at-large position is open,” said Fire Chief Ron Norton. “Any person interested must live in the fire district and have a desire to serve the public and improve emergency services.”
