The Navarre man accused of ramming 11 cars along U.S. Highway 98 has been taken into custody by law enforcement, facing 35 different charges.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) arrested Daniel Weidman, 38, of Navarre Thursday for 11 counts of hit and run and other charges.
According to an FHP press release, Weidman is charged with 12 counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence, 12 counts of misdemeanor reckless driving and 11 counts of felony or misdemeanor hit and run.
The charges stem from a string of crashes the evening of Nov. 24. According to the FHP report, Weidman’s Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound on Highway 98 going from Gulf Breeze to Navarre when the series of rear-end collisions occurred.
After striking each vehicle, Weidman allegedly kept driving. The incident ended when he lost control of his Jeep, spinning out and striking a tree near Edgewood Drive around 5 p.m., according to the reports.
Weidman was taken to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he was treated for minor injuries, according to the report. The other individuals involved in the collisions sustained only minor injuries.
Weidman is currently being held in Santa Rosa County Jail without bond.
