Fla. Gov. Rick Scott flew from Tallahassee to Pensacola International Airport April 30 to meet with local elected officials and to tour flood-ravaged neighborhoods.
According to a governor’s spokeswoman, he will tour Pensacola with Mayor Ashton Hayward.
Before leaving Tallahassee, Scott declared a State of Emergency in 26 counties, including those in northwest Florida and the Big Bend area due to heavy rain and flooding.
The Executive Order designates the Director of the Division of Emergency Management as the state’s Coordinating Officer for the duration of the event.
It also notifies the State Adjutant General to activate the Florida National Guard and place them under the direction of the state’s Coordinating Officer during the duration of the emergency.
