Gov. Rick Scott Thursday cancelled a new Florida Standard Assessment (FSA) test for high school juniors. Students in grades three through 10 will take the new tests as planned.
“The removal of the 11th grade ELA (English language arts) FSA assessment is a good step in the right direction for eliminating the over assessment of students promulgated by state mandated rules,” Santa Rosa County District Schools Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick said. “I am encouraged this is a first step in addressing this issue for our students and teachers. I would strongly encourage our local legislative team to take a close look at the current over assessment paradigm,” he said.
