Fire districts face busy weekend, preventable fires

Holley Navarre Fire District had higher than usual call volumes the weekend of Sept. 13 and 14 which included one brush fire set by a 9-year-old, an unattended yard fire and an unattended kitchen fire.

The small fire set by the young man took place at Andorra Street and Menorca Street.

“Two adult males were using large trashcans to dump water on the fire,” HNFD Battalion Chief Howie Rounsaville reported of what firefighters found when they arrived on scene.
