A 44-year-old Navarre woman was killed Monday morning after she was hit by a car on U.S. 98 in Gulf Breeze.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Lisa D. Wells was walking along the northern shoulder of U.S. Highway 98 east of Ramblewood Drive at about 8:50 a.m. when she tried to cross the westbound lanes.
An SUV driven by Amanda Spencer, 22, of Memphis, Tenn., was traveling west within the westbound inside lane. Police said Wells failed to yield the right-of-way to Spencer and as Wells entered the westbound lane, she was struck by the front of the SUV.
The westbound lanes of 98 were closed for the rest of the morning.
