‘Eyesore’ in Holley being demolished

Demolition of a roughly 3,000-square-foot abandoned building on Highway 87 South in Holley is underway at the site of the future Holley-Navarre Fire District (HNFD) substation.

“It was an ugly eyesore … our number one goal was to get rid of that and get it cleaned up,” HNFD Chief Ron Norton said, pointing out funding has not yet been secured to construct a substation at the site. He said the demolition is expected to be complete this week.

Norton said HNFD hired a grants consultant to explore state and federal funding possibilities.
