After 10 negotiation sessions, representatives from Santa Rosa Professional Educators (SRPE), the county’s teachers’ union, and Santa Rosa County Board officials have finally made some progress toward renewing a three-year teachers’ contract.
“We made great strides at the last negotiation session with just a few more issues to work out,” Steve Ratliff, chief negotiator for the school district, said.
Negotiations had stalled until the district agreed to a union request to delay state-mandated performance-based pay until 2015-16. Union president Rhonda Chavers pointed out that other districts have also delayed implementing the mandate.
