In an arrest at the Days Inn and Suites on Navarre Parkway, Santa Rosa Sheriff’s deputies seized 130.5 grams of methamphetamine, eight 0.25 mg Xanax tablets, 0.3 grams of marijuana, 0.3 grams of heroin and what appeared to be psychedelic mushrooms.
The arrest report indicates the driver, later identified as Edward McElligott of Georgia, was laid back in the seat of a silver Saab in front of the door to the Days Inn. When he awoke, he told deputies he had stayed there the night before and after checking out fell asleep in the car.
During the interview with police, he produced a photocopy of two Georgia licenses, one of which he claimed was his. During the search of the car, deputies found two more wallets with other identification. It wasn’t until he was fingerprinted during booking that deputies learned his true identity. In addition to the drugs found during the search, the deputies also found glass pipes in the car.
The Saab also displayed a tag that wasn’t registered to the car.
McElligott is currently being held in Santa Rosa County jail on $119,500 and has a hold placed by Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Fulton County Marshall’s Office.
