The CDC this week declared a national flu epidemic after 15 deaths were reported, including two in Florida.
The flu is widespread throughout 35 states, according to the CDC, with high activity levels reported throughout the south.
Since Oct. 1, 9.7 laboratory-confirmed influenza-associated hospitalizations per 100,000 population were reported.
According to the CDC, flu symptoms include some or all of the following:
- Fever (however, not everyone with the flu will have a fever)
- sore throat
- runny or stuffy nose
- body aches
- sometimes diarrhea and vomiting
