A salvage barge from Resolve Marine Group, Mobile, Ala., is expected to arrive today to recover the Black Hawk helicopter from Santa Rosa Sound.
The operation is expected to take eight hours, weather pending, according to a release from Eglin Air Force Base. An Army and Coast Guard dive team will be on site to assist in the recovery.
Once the aircraft has been removed from the water, the recovery operations are expected to be turned over to the Safety Investigation Board which is already on site. The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center out of Fort Rucker, Ala., is in charge of that effort.
Anyone who finds debris along the Sound or witnessed anything involving the Army helicopter crash, is asked to call 850-884-9281.
