In a competency hearing held Jan. 23, Brandon Aydelott was ordered to the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee to undergo a mental evaluation, which is expected to be complete within six months. Aydelott was found incompetent to stand trial in the Christmas Eve murder of his mom, Holley Navarre Middle School teacher Sharon Aydelott.
During the hearing, the court accepted two mental competency reports – one from a defense expert and another from a court-appointed expert. Both reports were placed in the court record under seal.
