Apartment fire under investigation

State Fire Marshals are investigating the early morning fire that broke out at the Reserve Apartments Friday, Aug. 5, in Midway.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and Midway Fire Department responded to the 5:37 a.m. fire according to Sheriff’s Office press release. The blaze was contained to one unit in building 11 of the complex. No injuries were reported.

According to Midway Fire Chief Jonathan Kanzigg the fire started in the kitchen of the apartment. He said the two adults and two children that lived in the apartment were not home at the time.

The other apartments were undamaged except for water damage to the unit below the fire the chief said.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
